Thunder Dog by Micheal Hingson and Susie Flory

This is one of the best books I have read in a long time:) I am a dog lover, so it was a no brainer to choose this book, but the heroic story within the pages is wonderful! This book tells the story of a blind man and tells how he has adapted to life as a blind person that lives in a world that is better suited for people with sight. Most of the things that we, as sighted people, take for granted in their ease to master in a short period of time, were learned by this man, to the amazement of some people he has come into contact with throughout his life. His close relationship with his guide dog is also focused on in this story. He details his day from the time his dog, Roselle, wakes him up early in the morning because of a thunderstorm on September 11, 2001, all the way until past midnight, after he has suvived the attack on the World Trade Center, and his escape from New York City to his home in New Jersey.
Micheal now speaks to people about his experience on that day and how he and Roselle got out calmly, despite their fear and uncertainty on that day. This book is a look into the events of that day that from the stairwell of the first tower to get hit by a plane. None of the people who were climbing down the stairs that day had any idea what was happening, but they knew that they needed to get out of the building and did so without panicking, not knowing how much time was left and what would happen shortly after they escaped the building.

Where Do You Go From Here? by Valorie Burton. Great book!!!

I just finished one of the best books I have read in a while, Where Do I Go From Here? by Valorie Burton. This book came into my lap when I really needed it most. I have been out of work as a result of losing my job in January of this year and I am really having trouble finding any work that will support me and my kids. I was feeling more depressed than ever about a month ago as I realized that school was starting soon and I had little money to get my kids the things they would need for school.
This book is a step by step by guide to help get a person who is in a similar situation, job loss, divorce, death of someone close, or a devastating illness, get themselves up and moving in the right direction. This is not your typical get off your duff and do something with your life book. It helps you realize that you cannot control everything and it is ok to feel down for a little while, but no matter how small of steps you take in the right direction, the important thing is that you begin your journey. I highly recommend this book for anyone who needs a little bit of compassion and motivation to get their life moving in the right direction.
